ELTA EL/M-2190 ground penetration radar
Description
The ELTA EL/M-2190 Ground Penetration Radar (GPR) is a high-resolution radar which detects, measures, analyses and classifies objects buried in the ground. It has applications in mine detection and marking, the detection and marking of buried unexploded ordnance (UXO), hazardous waste, cables and pipelines and tunnels and bunkers. It can also detect and mark underground fluid leakages and measure the thickness of road layers.
The EL/M-2190 system has been designed with modular hardware and flexible software, with its digital processing and algorithms adaptable to various applications. The system can be deployed mounted on various wheeled or tracked, remotely controlled low-acoustic and magnetic signature platforms according to local requirements. When used on a tracked platform the system has been marketed as the Robotic Mine Detection System (RMDS).
The system can detect metal and plastic mines and utilise various marker methods to denote the position of a buried object. The platform vehicle can also carry additional sensors such as a high-sensitivity magnetometer and video and/or infra-red cameras.
