“11 Days and a Wake Up” is a true life story about the Chosen Few and the Battle of Wanat which happen on July 13, 2008 in the Kunar Province of Eastern Afghanistan. The platoon of Chosen Company consisting of 26 Air Borne soldiers, who during a 15 month combat tour, were attacked by 200+ Taliban Insurgents, with only 11 days left before returning home. Nine (9) soldiers were Killed in Action.
The Battle of Wanat is still the Deadliest and Loss of Life battle to date in the 17 years Afghanistan War on Terror. “Operation Rock Move” as a Main Effort Mission which the head of the US Army 173rd Airborne 503rd Infantry 2nd Battalion based out of Vicenza Italy, was ordered to relocate their base in the North Eastern mountains on the Pakistan and Afghanistan border along the Pech River Valley where 80% of all of the deadly combat fighting was occurring in the War.
This is their true life story of their battle in War trying to survive in just protecting each other in an 8 hr Fire Fight for their lives. Nine Chosen few soldiers gave their lives, all being Killed in Action and an additional 27 Seriously wounded in the Wanat battle.
